LJ Covers at Spectex 2025 – Industry, Innovation, and Leadership
We are proud to share that LJ Covers attended this year’s Spectex Conference in Melbourne, the premier event for Australia’s specialised textiles industry. It was an incredible opportunity to connect with industry leaders, innovators, suppliers, and fellow fabricators who are all working to push the boundaries of industrial textile innovation and what it can achieve.
We were thrilled to join in applauding this year’s award winners — congratulations to all the businesses and individuals recognised for their outstanding contributions and innovations in textile manufacturing and supply. And let’s not forget the apprentices who entered their work into the awards. We were blown away by the quality of work submitted! Your hard work elevates the entire industry.
This year’s conference was extra special, marking the 85th anniversary of the Specialised Textiles Association (STA) — a milestone that celebrates decades of innovation, craftsmanship, and progress in our industry.
Beyond the celebrations, we enjoyed a fantastic social program that included welcome cocktail drinks, a themed dinner, and a fun round of mini golf at Holey Moley — all set to a futuristic theme with plenty of karaoke moments! The awards dinner was a highlight, held at the beautiful Carousel at Albert Park, bringing everyone together to celebrate the best of the industry.
We also had valuable conversations with some of the top minds in textile fabrication and supply, ensuring LJ Covers stays at the forefront of cutting-edge materials, techniques, and solutions. We believe in continually improving and bringing the best back home to our customers in Queensland.
And on a very proud note: our very own Jason (Jake) Kemp was officially voted onto the Council of Management for the Specialised Textiles Association (STA)! Jason has been entrusted with the important portfolio of training, helping shape the future of the industry and ensuring the next generation of textile fabricators are skilled, innovative, and well-supported.

As a small business, we know how tough it can be to close doors, even for a few days — and attending meant we had to shut down operations for three full days. While that was no small decision, the connections we made, the knowledge we gained, and the industry insights we brought back made every bit of it worthwhile. We’re committed to investing in the future, so we can keep offering the very best to our customers.
