Storage and Towing Put Different Stresses on a Cover
A storage cover sits on the boat while it’s parked, whether that’s on a trailer at home, in a shed, or on the water. Left uncovered, a boat parked for a few weeks collects dust, leaves, tree sap and bird mess, and all of it sets into the gel coat and upholstery. A storage cover needs to shed water rather than pond it, breathe enough to avoid trapping damp against the interior, and sit without chafing the gel coat where it touches.
A travel cover has to survive something rougher. Towing is where a boat gets genuinely filthy: road grime, bugs and dust all end up on the hull and through the interior at highway speed, and it arrives baked on. Our covers are elasticated and come down over almost the whole boat, so it holds itself tight against the hull rather than relying on straps alone. That close fit keeps the muck out and stops the cover ballooning at speed. A loose cover lets air under an edge and works at it until something lets go, which is the most common way people lose a cover on the motorway.
Modified and Unusual Boats
If your boat has a rocket launcher, extra rod holders, a bait board, a modified canopy, or anything else a generic pattern doesn’t allow for, a custom cover is the only way to get a clean fit. Gaps are where the dirt gets in. We template around what’s actually on the boat, not around a standard hull shape it’s supposed to resemble.
Fabric: Canvas or PVC
There’s no single best fabric, only the right one for how you use the boat. Canvas breathes well and handles long-term storage without trapping moisture, which matters if the boat sits covered for weeks at a time. PVC is fully waterproof and wipes clean, which suits boats that live outside and cop constant weather.

How We Measure and Make a Cover
Every cover starts with the boat itself. We take the measurements or a pattern from your boat directly, confirm the fabric and fittings with you, then cut and sew the cover in our Redland Bay workshop. Nothing is sent offshore and nothing is subcontracted out, so if something needs adjusting later, we can make the adjustments.
