Tarp, PVC, Awning and Tonneau Cover Repairs in Brisbane

LJ Covers repairs and alters tarps, PVC covers, awnings and ute tonneau covers at our workshop in Redland Bay, and we come to you for large fixed installations across South East Queensland. Because we make the same products from scratch, we repair them with the same materials, machines and fittings we use on a new cover. If the base material in your tarp or cover still has life in it, a repair usually gets it back into service faster than a replacement would.
Call 07 3916 4822 or send us a photo of the damage through the quote form, and we will explain the repair we recommend and what it involves.
Tarp Repairs for Truck, Trailer and Industrial Tarps
A truck tarp is dragged over loads, strapped down at speed and left out in the sun, and an industrial tarp over a stockpile or a site sits under wind load for months. Common tarp damage includes a tear started by a sharp edge on the load, eyelets pulled out of the hem, a rope hem that has worn through, and corners that have split where the tie-down pulls hardest.
We repair tarp damage in these ways:
- Patching tears with matched PVC, poly fabric or canvas so the patch moves with the tarp instead of against it.
- Replacing pulled or corroded eyelets and adding reinforcement behind them so the new eyelet holds.
- Re-roping hems and rebuilding worn edges.
- Reinforcing corners and load points where the tarp is tied down.
We repair truck tarps, curtain-siders, trailer covers, stockpile and site tarps, and large industrial tarps. If your tarp is part of a working fleet or a site that cannot stop, tell us when you call and we will discuss onsite repair.
PVC Repairs Using Hot Air Welding
PVC and poly fabric covers are repaired differently from canvas. For PVC we use hot air welding, which fuses the repair patch or seam into the surrounding material. A correctly welded repair is waterproof and holds under the same working conditions as the original cover, which matters on truck curtains, permanent PVC structures and enclosures, and PVC liners and covers used in industry.
We also replace the hardware that fails on PVC covers, including zips, buckles, straps, Velcro, ropes, clear PVC windows and mesh screens. Where a cover keeps failing at the same point, we reinforce that area while the cover is on the bench so the cover lasts longer before it needs attention again.
Awning and Shade Sail Repairs
Awnings, shade sails, patio screens and café blinds sit out in Queensland sun and storms all year, and UV and wind load wear them down, often at the seams and fixing points. We re-stitch seams, replace worn fabric panels, replace fittings and restore tension so the shade structure sits properly again.
Caravan awnings and annexes come in for the same kinds of repair: torn panels, worn zips, damaged mesh screens and stress points that have started to pull. We repair these so your setup is ready for the next trip, and we can make modifications while the annexe is here, such as adding a window, a door, a ventilation panel or a shade wall.
New awnings and shade sails are on our outdoor shade page. For a fixed awning or a large shade structure that cannot easily come down, we offer onsite repairs across South East Queensland.
Tonneau Cover Repairs for Utes and Trailers
A tonneau cover on a work ute is a working tool, and when it tears or starts leaking, the gear in the tub is exposed. The most common tonneau cover repairs we carry out are:
- Re-stitching seams that have blown or started to open.
- Replacing press studs, bungee cord and hook-and-loop tabs that no longer hold the edge down.
- Patching tears in canvas and PVC tonneau covers.
- Looking at re-covering or repairing aluminium hard lids.
If your tonneau cover is leaking and you are not sure why, our article on why your tonneau cover is leaking explains the four usual causes and how to check each one before you bring the ute in. If the cover is too far gone, we also make custom tonneau covers cut to your ute tub, so you can talk through a repair and a replacement in the same visit.

Repairs on Tarps and Covers Made by Other Businesses
We repair tarps, PVC covers, awnings and tonneau covers whether we made them or not, including covers bought elsewhere or picked up second-hand. What matters is how much life is left in the base material. If the fabric is sun-perished across the whole panel or tears as soon as it is handled, we will explain why a patch would not hold and talk you through having a new cover made to measure.
If your repair is on canvas gear, such as a canvas annexe that needs a new zip, a canvas cover that needs re-stitching or canvas that has stopped shedding water and needs re-proofing, our canvas repairs page covers that work in detail.
Onsite and Mobile Repairs Across South East Queensland
Some repairs have to happen where the cover is. A fixed marquee, a large permanent PVC structure, a curtain-sider that is part of a working fleet or a shade sail on a tall structure is often better repaired on site. We offer onsite repairs for sizeable installations across South East Queensland. Contact us with your location and a description of the damage so we can plan the visit.
Smaller items are repaired at our workshop at Unit 4/107 Jardine Drive, Redland Bay. We look after customers across Brisbane, the Redlands, the Gold Coast, the Sunshine Coast and Ipswich, and customers further afield around Australia can send their covers to the workshop.

Why LJ Covers Repairs Tarps and Covers
LJ Covers is run by Jason and Leah Kemp. Jason has more than 25 years in textile fabrication, starting as an apprentice in 2000, and he is the 2026/2027 President of the Specialised Textiles Association, the Australian industry body for technical textile fabrication. Because we manufacture tarps and covers as well as repair them, every repair is done with the materials and methods we would use on a new product, and if a repair turns out to be the wrong choice, we can make you a replacement under the same roof.
Industries We Support
Who We Work With For Repairs And Alterations
Jason Kemp has spent 25 years fabricating and repairing canvas, PVC, and poly-fabric products across Queensland.
He and his wife Leah own and operate LJ Covers in Redland Bay and their view towards repairs is straightforward: if there’s usable material left in a cover, it’s almost always worth fixing. A well-done repair with proper reinforcement, matched material, hot-air welded seams, will adds years to something that would otherwise go to landfill.
tradie or fleet operators
A worn tonneau cover or blown truck curtain is a working tool, not a cosmetic issue. We turn around most straightforward repairs quickly — bring it in or we’ll come to you across SEQ.
caravan or camper owners
Annexes, awnings, and camper covers take real punishment from UV and wind. We repair tears, replace zips and mesh screens, and reinforce stress points so your setup is ready for the next trip.
event hire businesses
Marquees and pavilion tents need regular maintenance to stay hire-ready. We work with hire companies across SEQ on ongoing repairs, seam reinforcement, and hardware replacement to keep inventory in rotation.
mining, agriculture, or construction
Industrial liners, netting, heavy-duty covers, and large tarps that go beyond what a general shop will touch. Jason has worked on large-scale industrial textile projects for over two decades.
homeowners
Shade sails, boat covers, and outdoor awnings are worth repairing when the core material is still sound. Drop it in at the workshop or enquire about our mobile service for larger fixed installations.
Work We Cannot Do
If a cover has lost structural integrity across the bulk of the material — severe UV degradation, widespread delamination, or damage beyond repair — we’ll say so. Replacement fabrication is something we do too, and sometimes it’s the more cost-effective path.
